About Us

Our Story

Tammie first felt called to missions in elementary school when her teacher shared pictures of serving overseas. Brad was drawn by the statistics of overwhelming numbers of people with no access to God’s Word in a language they could understand. After hearing missions presentations in chapel at Milligan University, we were both convinced of the importance of reaching people in their heart language.

We married in 1986 and earned graduate degrees in Linguistics and Anthropology at the University of Texas at Arlington. After French language school in 1991, we began serving in Africa in 1992. Since then, we’ve worked in Cameroon, Zaire (now DR Congo), Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda.

In 2016, we transitioned from Pioneer Bible Translators to Heart for Central Africa, a smaller organization allowing us greater flexibility in ministry.

Our Family

We have adult children now serving and studying in various fields. Please keep them in your prayers as they follow God’s calling in their own lives.
